Tony Marco, AIA
Senior Architect
Master of Architecture, UT-Austin
B.S.D., Architectural Studies, Arizona State University
Tony’s ambition to become an architect began late in life, at the age of 9, when he was constructing cities out of mud and concrete blocks under his family’s back porch for his sprawling Hot Wheels collection. His desire to design and make things progressed through high school and college in the form of landscaping, ceramics, model-making and furniture building, and continues to this day as he refurbishes his 1930’s cottage in central Austin. Growing up in the Arizona desert foothills in a house designed by a neighbor, that spanned two creeks, instilled a deep respect for understanding site-specific conditions that made a lasting impact on the work he does.
Working in Austin since graduating from UT in 1995, Tony’s most recent position prior to joining MF Architecture was Associate/Senior Designer at Nelsen Partners, where he worked on projects of varying typologies and scales. His experience ranges from small retail buildings and interior work, to multifamily projects, outdoor shopping centers, and Class-A high-rise and mid-rise office buildings. Regardless of the project size or type, he always strives to meet the client’s goals while designing a place inspired by its site and context, and loves the challenge of creating something that leaves the client equally inspired.
When not at work, he can be found running the trail at Lady Bird Lake, or on his couch side-eyeing his to-do list of home renovation projects.
