Sarah has been with MF Architecture since its inception in the spring of 2011. She is principal in charge of project delivery and oversees projects from concept to construction. Sarah believes that architecture is most powerful when it directly and simply responds to the needs of the client and the site and that each project presents a unique opportunity to answer a new set of questions and requirements. For her, the exciting and fulfilling part of practicing architecture is generating a concept that yields a broad, overall expression and also reveals that original thought in a variety of nuanced moments. Descendant House and Mount Sharp Residence are examples of this approach to design. Sarah is an instrumental leader at MF Architecture, creating a fertile ground for testing ideas and methods of design and fostering the practice's uniquely creative and collaborative culture.
Sarah’s design work has been featured on the AIA Austin Homes Tour three times with Main Stay House in 2017, Re-Open House in 2018, and Descendant House in 2023. Sarah also worked on the Fashioning Objects installation which was recognized with an AIA National Small Project Award, a Texas Society of Architects Studio Award, and the Spark International Silver Design Award. Sarah has also been featured in a “People to Watch” article in Austin Business Journal.
Sarah grew up in West Texas and studied at Texas Tech University where she received degrees in Architecture and Civil Engineering. She joined Matt after completing her Master of Architecture at the University of Texas in 2010. Previously, she worked with Lawrence Group Architects in Austin where she gained experience with various project types and sizes ranging from the new UT College of Communications/KUT Studios to smaller City of Austin projects.
In Sarah's time away from the office she enjoys living life in Austin with her husband Jason and daughter Ēlie. With Sarah and Jason's backgrounds in dance and music respectively, the whole family enjoys the music, art, and culture that Austin has to offer.
